Ever since merging with the adjacent ski resort Fieberbrunn, Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn has not only formed one of the largest connected and most diverse ski resorts in the Alps, it has also become a new freeride hotspot.

Countless ski routes are combined with the breath-taking scenery of the Kitzbühel Alps. Numerous freeride routes with differing levels of difficulty, freeride parks, information points, a specifically designed snow information and avalanche warning system (Lo.La*), avalanche transceiver search fields, camps and top events, like the Freeride World Tour – Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn offers a comprehensive freeride package, which attracts the elite as well as beginners who want to get to know the wonderful world of powdering.

The FreerideTestival 2018 takes place at the valley station of the 12er Express cable car in the town’s district of Hinterglemm.

Beginner freeride lesson with the Freeride Skischool Saalbach

Perfect for those who want to leave their tracks on off-piste slopes for the first time. Together with a guide of Freeride Skischool Saalbach you will learn about the most important aspects in the backcountry: the correct freeride riding technique as well as basic information about the equipment, safety and avalanches.

SAAC ‘avalanche quickies‘

Avalanche quickie lessons that take two hours will show you what you need to keep in mind when leaving the marked pistes. You will learn the most important and easiest behavioral rules and how to use avalanche transceiver search devices, probes and shovels. SAAC provides free rental of transceiver search devices, probes and shovels.

Goergl Intense by Thule

The FreerideTestival offers the unique opportunity to spend a wonderful day with Stephan Goergl. Within small groups, you can benefit from the experience and know-how of an absolute professional skier. Stephan Goergl will devote his time to each participant individually. Experience the feeling of freedom – a feeling that cannot be captured in a photo, that is, however, even more wonderful since it is captured in your mind.

Dates: Saturday and Sunday at 09:00 a.m.
Duration: Until appr. 04:00 p.m.
Number of participants: Max. 6 people each day
Prerequisites: Good skiing skills on all slopes
Cost: If you book in advance, we can, in cooperation with THULE, offer a spot for the unique price of 59€. Otherwise, you need to come up with 99€ at the Testival (if there are still spots available)

The program (always adapted to snow and weather conditions) essentially consists of the following parts:

  • Improving your skiing technique and your powder skills
  • Skiing down exceptional off-piste runs
  • Ski touring upslope shortly in the backcountry
  • Video analysis providing you with valuable tips on your technique
  • Checking up your equipment including individual tips
  • Transferring Stephan’s unique approach to mountains, snow and nature

Moreover, participants are provided with brand-new Thule Upslope Airbag backpacks, including avalanche transceiver equipment and food packages. However, the backpacks have to be returned.

 

Black Diamond Early-Bird Skitour

Noch vor Liftstart machst du dich gemeinsam mit einem professionellen Bergführer auf den Weg. Ziel ist der Bergstadl am Westgipfel, hoch über dem Eventgelände. Dort wartet ein reichhaltiges Frühstück auf dich und deine Begleiter. Hast du anschließend noch Lust auf mehr, kannst Du weiter in Richtung Westgipfel aufsteigen (auf eigenes Risiko). Nach dem Frühstück geht es weiter in das Backcountry des Skicircus. Ski, LVS-Ausrüstung und Lawinenrucksack werden dir vor Ort von Black Diamond zur Verfügung gestellt.

Black Diamond Intensivkurs Verschüttetensuche

Im Ernstfall muss es schnell gehen: Bei der Kameradenrettung zählt jede Sekunde, denn die Überlebenschance eines Verschütteten sinkt rapide von Minute zu Minute. Nur wer regelmäßig trainiert, kann im Notfall schnell reagieren. Insbesondere bei Mehrfach- oder Tiefenverschüttungen ist eine entsprechende Routine besonders wichtig. Bei diesem Kurs wird dir detailliertes Know-How im Bereich Verschüttetensuche vermittelt. Themen sind unter anderem: Genaue Funktionsweise von LVS-Geräten, Methoden zur Suche, modernen Suchstrategien, Organisation einer Kameradenrettung, etc.
